An impressive Japanese Igezara porcelain charger dating to the Meiji Period, circa 1900. Featuring an intricate transferware composition of a phoenix and mythical creatures surrounded by scrolling foliage and blossoms, it is framed by the distinctive brown iron-glazed scalloped “pie-crust” rim characteristic of Igezara ware. A substantial example of Meiji-era Japanese decorative ceramics, combining traditional imagery with early industrial transfer-printing techniques.
